A silver trophy 20 cm in height (excluding plinth) 10 cm in diameter, 18 cm across from the edge of one handle to the other. Hallmarked EWB Anchor Lion O for 1938/39. Engraved on one side W.A.A.F. Inter Station Cricket Tournament Presented by Wing Officer J Conan-Doyle. One the other side it is engraved Winners 1946 RAF Wittering, 1947 WAAF Weeton, 1948 WAAF Weeton, 1949 WRAF No 11 Group Unit, 1950, WRAF Nuneham Park, 1951 WRAF Yatesbury, 1952 WRAF Cosford, 1953 WRAF Wilmslow, 1954 WRAF Hawkinge, 1955 WRAF Wilmslow, 1956 WRAF Wilmslow, 1957 WRAF Shinfield Park, 1958 WRAF Shinford Park, 1959 WRAF Hawkinge, 1960 WRAF Hereford, 1961 WRAF Spitalgate, 1962 WRAF Spitalgate. It is sent on a plinth which has a silver band hallmarked Lion Leopards Head U for London 1935/36 makers mark WJG. And has engraved on it CO's Trophy WRAF Tennis. The cup itself has several minor dents in it.

She joined No 46 ATS Co Sept 1938, commnd in WAAF (Women's Auxillary Air Force) 1940, command in RAF 1949, Comd WRAF Admin Officer BAFO Germany 1947-50, HQ Tech Trg Comd 1950-52 and 1962-63, Dep Dir 1952-54 and 1960-62, OC RAF Hawkinge 1956-59, Inspector of the WRAF 1954-56 and 1959-60 Hon ADC to the Queen 1963-66.

A rather stylish small silver trophy some 6.75 cm in height and and four cm in diameter excluding handles hallmarked Anchor
Lion L for Birmingham (England) 1935/36 makers mark S B & S Ld. With some
slight dents in it. Set on a Bakelite plastic plinth with a later silver plaque

to the base and rim.
Obverse within and engraved floral wreath Win: College High Jump with Pole 2nd
Prize E. G. Strutt height 9ft 1872. Reverse also
within a wreath a coat of arms shield with on the left two keys with a sword,
right two chevrons with two roses above and one below.
A very unusal Winchester College
trophy for the pole vault. Winchester College Record confirms E. G. Strutt as Hon Edward Gerald Strutt
2nd son of Lord Rayleigh. Later to Trinity College Cambridge,

1889 died1950. Was a Captain in the 5 Bt Bedfordshire
Regiment 1904-1912. Lt Col 5th Bt (Res) 1915-1918
mentioned in Despatches. Hon Lt Col
TF (Res) from 1918. Lived at Hinwick
House near Wellingborough. Appointed
a JP in 1911. Listed in Kelly's Handbook, funeral notice in The Times
says the funeral was at St Mary's Podington. On

F H Stonehewer Bird joined the diplomatic service as
a student interpreter in 1913 and was appointed Vice Consul in the Levant
Consular Service 1917. Sir (Francis) Hugh Stonehewer
Bird KCMG OBE was the H M Amassador to Iraq 1945-1948
(obituary in The Times 1973).
